on description
Seierstad doesn't add much description into her writing, but even so, she gets her point across. She will put more emphasis on topics that tie into her main idea of the treatment of the treatment of women. The fact that Seierstad generally strays from description does not keep her from paying attention to detail. Seierstad devotes many of her words to the detail of historical events that surround her story as well as the detail that causes the reader to understand her aversion towards the treatment of the women in her story. The bare quality exhibited by her writing makes the story much easier to read and retain, which is a goal for an author, especially for one trying to make a point, such as Seierstad. An author trying to prove such points wants their story to stick with the reader, not be lost in superfluous language.
